Hradec Kralove Town

Location

Czechia (Czech Republic) is a small country located in the heart of Europe. It is surrounded by mountains and the rest of the continent is easy to explore from this central location. Hradec Králové is a small/big city in Bohemia. It lies on the confluence of the Elbe and Orlice rivers. This city has a population of about 93,000. While it may be small in terms of inhabitants, it has big culture, industry and education. Hradec Králové has been a bustling city since the middle ages and now it boasts museums, stadiums, theaters, historical sites, and a fine university. And if you run out of things to do in this charming place, Prague is only an hour and a half from Hradec Králové. Even Germany, Austria, Poland, and Slovakia are just a train ride away!

Housing

What is housing for international students like?
The dorms are separated flats. Students will have a bed in a double room and there are 2 or 3 rooms in one flat. Every flat has its one bathroom and one kitchen that is shared by all faltmates.  There is a shared laundry room at the dorms, so the students can do in-house. There are communal leisure spaces within the dorms and athletic spaces outdoors. Internet is available in every flat and room.

What is dining like?
There is a canteen opposite the dorm building. There are also restaurants in town. There is not, however, an all-you-care-to-eat cafeteria on campus like the one at Norwich. When you pay your Norwich room and board fee, the board portion is forwarded to you to use as cash to pay for food during your semester abroad.

ESN Buddy System
The ESN Buddy System Hradec Králové is a student organization which was established in 2003 in Hradec Králové at the University Hradec Králové. Now organization has about 50 members and this number is constantly growing. Students from outside of the Czech Republic are matched with a buddy who can help them adjust to the university and find their way around town. There are many activities organised by ESN Buddy System HK, but the first and most basic goal of the organization is to help foreign students during their stay in Hradec Králové. In addition they organize trips, presentations, international dinners, parties and other leisure time activities during the semester.
